We are on a mission to create 100 pollinator gardens in Christian County this year and YOU can help. Download the pollinator list and come see us at one of our classes or at a local garden center open house to learn more.

Key Pollinator Plants

Key Pollinator Plants

Get the list! Not all natives support native pollinators equally. Just a few plants do the heavy lifting - these are called the Keystone plants.

Research from the Homegrown National Park initiative has identified which natives are most crucial to our planting zone.

What The Experts Say

Homegrown National Park is the largest cooperative conservation project ever conceived or attempted. With researched-based information they have a plan on how to help our pollinators which starts with using key native plants.

  • 50% of mid-western native bee species have disappeared.
  • 4 bumblebee species declined 96% in the last 20 years.
  • 25% of our bumblebees are at risk of extinction.

Even a container with key pollinator plants can be an important part of regenerating biodiversity. These containers provide important refueling pit stops for native pollinators. Every square foot counts!
